Managing software on Windows has never been easier—thanks to UniGetUI, the intuitive graphical interface that unifies the most popular command-line package managers into a single, user-friendly app. Whether you’re a power user or a casual installer, UniGetUI streamlines the process of downloading, installing, updating, and uninstalling software from sources like Winget, Chocolatey, Scoop, Pip, NPM, and more.

With its sleek design and robust features, UniGetUI transforms the way you interact with package managers, making it a must-have tool for anyone looking to simplify their software management workflow on Windows 10 and 11.

Why UniGetUI?

While command-line tools like Winget and Chocolatey are powerful, they can be intimidating for users who prefer a visual interface. UniGetUI bridges this gap by providing:

One-Click Installations: Install, update, or uninstall software with a single click.

Cross-Manager Support: Access packages from Winget, Chocolatey, Scoop, Pip, NPM, .NET Tools, and the PowerShell Gallery all in one place.

Advanced Customization: Choose installation paths, architectures (32/64-bit), and even skip specific versions.

Bulk Operations: Select multiple packages and perform bulk installs, updates, or uninstallations.

Automatic Updates: Keep your software up to date automatically or receive notifications when updates are available.

Backup & Restore: Export your package lists to quickly restore your setup on a new machine.

Okay, next up is removing the default Windows Volume Icon to make this a seam-less integration.

It’s a bit tricky and requires access to the Local Group Policies on the machine.

Open Local Group Policy Editor via the Run Command

Another easy way to open apps and programs on your Windows device is through the Run dialog box. Here’s how you can open the Local Group Policy Editor using the Run tool.

Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.

Type gpedit.msc in the text box and click OK or press Enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor.

Find the policy

You the have to find and edit and enable the policy for showing the volume icon in the system tray.

Reload policy

Now you have two options:

Reboot / Log out and back in.

Open a command prompt and run:
gpupdate /target:computer /force

Now the default Volume Icon should be gone!

Operation System

I have been running Linux on my desktop since 1998.

It all started with me begging my mom to drive me to a larger town close to where I grew up.

It took days! But she finally gave in and drove me to the larger city where at the train station there where this kiosk selling magazines that never was where i grew up.

Why you may ask? Well I read somewhere that this issue of the magazine came with Linux on a few CDs including software etc. This Linux was Red Hat 5.2.

At the time internet was a thing on the library and there was no way in hell I would be allowed to download an ISO and burning it to a CD there.
(I had a small fallout with the dude managing the computers there, lets just say i learned to write Pascal code, and sort of ended up using it to be an idiot).

Anyways… This was my start of running Linux.

In a short time (Around a year) Red Hat 6.0 was released and was a HUGE upgrade in UX for a total noob trying to learn, break stuff, re-install and start over.

Ever since ive been using multiple Linux distro’s (Debian, Ubuntu, Manjaro and now Arch Linux) but is ended up using Arch Linux on my machines (Desktop and Laptops).

There are another full story about what I do on the server side, but that will be for a different day.

Window Manager

Currently (And for like 8 years?) I use a pretty minimal window manager called i3wm.

A sample screenshot (From the i3wm website). I’ll take a nice screenshot of my setup and replace it soon (TM).

From the i3wm website:

i3 is a tiling window manager, completely written from scratch.

The target platforms are GNU/Linux and BSD operating systems, our code is Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) under the BSD license.

i3 is primarily targeted at advanced users and developers.

I use a fork’ed version called i3 gaps.

This mainly adds spacing around windows which is purely for looks.

I clearly have been using a lot of different window managers / desktops on the Linux platform, some day I might take you on a trip down memory lane about even having a working GUI on Linux.

Mix the dough until all flour is wet and cover the bowl with a clean cloth and let it sit at living room temperature for 8 to 12 hours. If you want to develop the dough longer put the bowl in the fridge (Overnight is perfect). Be sure to take out the bowl while the oven heats up (At least).

Turn on the oven at 250-275 °C.

When the oven have heated up for at least 45 min. transfer the dough to the oven.

Put a wet cloth in the bottom of the oven for the first 5 min. (Or ice cubes in a tray) for adding steam while the buns rises. This help to prolong the rise and gives a nice crunchy outer.

Bake the buns for 10-12 min. Knocking on the bottom of one will tell you if its ready (Should sound hollow).

The biggest difference is the USB interface.
The real one uses a CP2102 USB to UART bridge. The copy uses a CH340G chip.
The CH340G is notoriously unstable and liable to die at a moments notice.
The CP2102 is far more reliable.
I recently accidentally nuked a Wemos D1 Mini pro which has the same CP2102 on it with 12V.
It took out the voltage regulator. It took out the ESP8266 chip.
I replaced both those, and the CP2102 was proved to still be working fine.
More than could be said for a CH340G - glance at one of those wrong and they die.
